ABOUT THE BRAND

Ella Peru is a chic Canadian lifestyle brand created for the urban female.  The clothing line was established in 2009 and quickly became a favourite among the Canadian media and the label's clientele alike.  In only its first season, the brand was selected as a finalist in the Generation Next design competition for BC Fashion Week.  Shortly thereafter, the BC Fashion Week panel of judges voted Ella Peru first place for Best Up and Coming Label of 2009.

Creative Director, Su-Hui Chu, developed the clothing line with her vision of Ella Peru as her muse.  Ella Peru is into wardrobe contrast; unique yet casual, pretty yet edgy, simplistic yet chic, understated yet adventurous.  She shops at fripperies and boutiques – a mix of edge and classic pieces compose her wardrobe.

The label is a reflection of Ella Peru’s wardrobe as it’s designed to outfit her lifestyle.  The contemporary designs and edgy selection of colors and fabrics put a focus on the chic and unconventional for today’s ambitious, creative and urban female.  Each garment is carefully constructed to be wearable yet stylish for a busy and social lifestyle.  From the office to late night cocktails, travel to rest, the label proves to be versatile and appropriate for all occasions.

Ella Peru Clothing is available across Canada in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.  Please see “Boutiques” for a list of current retailers.

Why the name Ella Peru

Honestly, “Ella” and “Peru” are the names of people that I’ve met and adored while traveling in Australia and India.  They may also be the names of my kids one day.

I also just liked the way they fit together.  Ella makes me think of femininity, strength and beauty.  While Peru makes me think of travel and mystery.  All things that I want Ella Peru Clothing to be about.

Ella Peru’s style and lifestyle in ten words or less

Ella Peru is artsy and ambitious.  She is keen to all things new (new fashions, new music, new techs, new foods, new people, new places) and all things classic (vintage posters, antique furniture, Gustav Klimt, Breakfast at Tiffany’s).
